3 Ways To Get Healthy this New Year

With the start of any New Year comes the new dedication to make healthier choices, lose that extra bit of Christmas weight and get outdoors.

The start of 2023 is no different. Christmas is over, it feels like a distant memory and we are feeling energised and ready to get back into the gym gear, back to the treadmill and ready to look ahead to a positive, healthy and prosperous spring and summer.

But getting healthy doesn’t just have to include your own personal weight loss and fitness goals. The ethos that runs through the very heart of Caddyboo is sustainability and eco conscious swaps and ideas. We take inspiration from bodies such as the Green Match, Greenpeace and more to help inspire you to feel healthier and stronger.

So, help your mind, body, soul, outlook, self care and footprint get healthy this New Year with these three easy tips!

1. Make Eco-Conscious Swaps

Start small with eco-conscious swaps by simply changing how you eat on your first day back to work in 2023. Instead of heading to the local shops, supermarket or food store for lunch, why not prepare and pack something at home ahead of time. Swap out your single use golf accessories in favour of our products with a purpose.

Make healthy food choices by packing your lunch full of healthy veggies and grains. Boost your eco contribution by dumping the single use plastic, single use cutlery and non recyclable materials. Instead, pack in bento boxes that can be cleaned and reused; fill a bamboo water bottle and refill to keep yourself hydrated all day long. Opt for beeswax packaging over plastic.

Simple swaps that are effective and easy to do on day one!

Other simple eco-conscious swaps include:

  • Avoiding plastic straws; why not invest in some metal straws or go straw-less altogether?

  • Change up your hygiene care in favour of period pants or menstrual cups

  • Bin the plastic bottles in your bathroom and invest in bamboo or glass bottles that you can easily refill

2. Change Your Diet & Consumption Habits

The way we eat and consume foods and food products has a huge effect on the world around us, climate change and our carbon footprint. An easy way to get healthy this year is to swap out the single use plastic items for things packaged more responsibly, change meat options for meat free or to go completely green and plant based.

If you’re a meat eater who needs their meaty fix, you can swap just one or two main meals a week for a plant based alternative. Using grains, pulses and clever alternatives just once or twice a week can help you to reduce your carbon footprint and also start a healthier lifestyle.

We all know that red meat and animal fats aren’t ideal so replace them with hearty greens, leaves and bulky beans and you’ll be feeling healthier and have more energy in no time.

Why not take it one step further and begin growing and cultivating your own food? All you need is a small window box or a patch of soil to get started. Begin by growing your own herbs in planters and adding them to your dishes. Then move onto easy plants like tomatoes, strawberries and marrows. Once you get the-grow-your-own bug you won’t want the supermarket alternatives.

3. Get Outside & Move Your Body

When the New Year hits, there is nothing better than getting outside and blowing away the cobwebs. The cold weather really sets the soul on fire and bracing against the wind and rain can help your heart race and your body feel alive after the long Christmas slog.

Getting healthy in 2023 doesn’t have to be about logging massive runs, pounding the streets in your running shoes or sweating it up at the gym. You can make simple changes by going for walks around the block, walking to work and even swapping the golf buggy for a stroll around the course. Do it in style with our great golfing accessories and give back to the planet while helping yourself get healthier.

Small swaps like this really do make all the difference. A quick, gentle walk each day on your lunch break can contribute towards lost pounds; hike around your local block instead of using public transport; jump on your bike and get the blood pumping!

Don’t forget, here at Caddyboo, we’re all about sustainable swaps and an eco lifestyle. Check out our other lifestyle posts now.
